After doing a bit of research we have found some alarming credit card debt facts that speak the reason why America is in such a heavy debt load. According to TransUnion in 2008, the States that had the highest debt rate because of excess fees was Nevada followed by Mississippi, Utah, and South Dakota. Although late fees have decreased from 2007 from $20 to 25.9, on average, they have known to rise up to $40.
